How to clean trainers?

The best way to clean trainers, fell running trainers, or any shoes is as follows:

1. Remove the insoles
2. Hose or wash with water. Rinse out the sweat and mud that can damage your shoes
3. Rinse until the water is running clear indicating you have washed all the mud and dirt away
4. Squeeze out excess water from the tongue and heel or other padded areas
5. Put on your Trainer Drainer - put the laces inside the drip tray and check the heel is above the drip tray (water drips from the heel or laces into the tray)
6. Leave to drip dry on the Trainer Drainer

How much faster do shoes dry with a Trainer Drainer?

About twice as fast - but it depends on a lot of different things.

If you leave them on a radiator early evening, they usually dry overnight.

If you leave them to drip dry without any other heat source, it takes around 2 days to fully dry a pair.

I experimented putting one trainer on a Trainer Drainer (not on a radiator) and one by the front door.

The Trainer Drainer shoe dried in 2 days, the shoe by the front door was still soaking wet and took 5 days to be totally dry - and the smell coming in the front door was awful on day 3 onwards - I'm not repeating this experiment.

Lots of factors will influence drying times, but I'm confident to say they dry at least twice as fast and don't smell.

Can you put the Trainer Drainer on the radiator?

This is up to you. The universal advice is not to put shoes directly on the radiators because the heat from the radiator can melt the glue and damage the shoes.
This can happen if shoes are heated above 40-50c. The radiator metal can get this hot or hotter..

If you put the Trainer Drainer on the radiator, it lifts the shoes above the radiator so they are gently warmed by the rising warm air.

In tests at home, the heat inside the shoes at the toe (hottest point) it's not gone above 34c.

Many electric shoe dryers use warm air at 30-45c to dry shoes so the Trainer Drainer on top of a radiator is at the lower end of this temperature range.

As it is just using the passive heat from a radiator that is already on, it's not using any additional electricity or power making it a more eco friendly way to dry your shoes.

Of course, the Trainer Drainer works perfectly well anywhere and does not need to go on a radiator.

All manufacturers say do not dry on or near a radiator. If you choose to do this, it is at your own risk.

What size shoes fit? Size 3 - 14 confirmed

I've tested my daughters size 3's and my friends size 14's and they both fit - check out the video of another friends size 13's.

The length from toe to heel is 18.5cm so for smaller shoes, please check the inside length

Size 14's do fit fine but you need to pull the laces tight before you put them on the Trainer Drainer.

If the laces are wide open, the shoe might slip so far down that the heel is not above the drip tray.

Please always check the heel is above the drip tray, and pulling the laces tight will sort this out.

How does it fit together?

The trainer Drainer has a clip on the foot profile that attaches to the mount on the tray. If you push the back of the clip into the mount, and roll the foot forward it will clip into place.

Is it £14.99 for one Trainer Drainer or for a pair?

Trainer Drainer's are always sold in pairs, one for each shoe to go on.

It's £14.99 for a pair / 2 drainer drainers. You get 2 Foot profiles and 2 trays per order - everything you need to drip dry a pair of trainers
